Teppei Kaneshi (b.1978) was born in 1978, an artist and a sculptor living and working in Kyoto. In 2003, he graduated from the Sculpture Institute of Kyoto City University of Arts in Japan and stayed there to teach.
He uses the materials around him to create, and changes the meaning of ordinary things by cutting off certain parts and pasting them on other collages. International organizations such as Yokohama Art Museum (Yokohama, 2009), Ullens Center for Contemporary Art (Beijing, 2013), Ikuma Genichiro Modern Art Museum (Marugame City, 2016) and other international organizations all have held solo exhibitions for it.
Since 2011, his creation has extended to the field of set design and drama production. In 2012, he won the Kyoto City Art Newcomer Award, in 2015 he won the Kyoto Prefecture Cultural Award Encouragement Bonus, and in 2018 he won the 29th Takashimaya Cultural Fund Award.
