Chen Ke (b.1978) graduated from Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, is now based in Beijing. In her early works, an adorable yet lonely girl was often depicted within a surreal time and space. With a slightly aloof posture, she tries to resist against the upside-down reality or express her feelings for the passing of time. Since 2011, Chen Ke has started her new painting themes from another art media - photography. Adopting archetypes like Frida Kahlo, Marilyn Monroe and other women figures, she actively absorbes nutrients from the Eastern and Western classical paintings, forming her gradually matured painting landscape. In 2017, she began to create a series of works related to her father, more directly projecting her own life experience and insights into her works , later held a solo exhibition named “Talking To Dad Is Serious Business" at Yuz Museum in Shanghai in 2018.
