Sun Yanchu

Sun Yanchu (b.1978) was born in Zhoukou, Henan in 1978, and currently lives and works in Zhengzhou, Henan. Sun Yanchu’s images combine his personal life experience with his comprehensive understanding of photography, painting, and image editing. On the one hand, he still shoots those vigorous and lonely images on his own, on the other hand, he also strives to find abandoned images in history. Through smearing and editing, they have a brand new presentation in the present. The deconstruction of this pair of images makes their works exude a unique charm.

Sun participated in many domestic and foreign exhibitions, published photographic books, and his works were collected by art institutions and individuals. Sun won the 2015 Barn Photography Sample Book: Martin Parr Jury Award, 2011 Lianzhou International Photography Annual New Photography Award and 2010 Japan MIO Photography Award Jury (Morimura Taisho) Special Award.
