Wen Ling, born in Beijing in 1976, graduated from the Printmaking Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts.
His creation involves photography, animation, painting and other fields. In 2001, he opened China's earliest photography blog "ziboy.com". He is also one of the initiators of the famous painting community "Green School". At the same time, he is also a representative figure who began to explore and practice with Zine and private publishing in the early days in China. Since 2009, Wen Ling has successively published collections of independent publications such as "54boy", "One Day in My Life" and "FMB".
Wen Ling has always hoped to spread his creation as widely as possible, so that more people can enter his work, and reject the sense of distance that contemporary art brings to ordinary audiences. From small emojis on social platforms to large digital banners covering buildings, Wen Ling spreads his worldview and personality DNA through his works. He always makes sensitive changes in the face of changes in popular media and online communities. Recently, he just opened the ziboy TV channel on YouTube and launched a new experiment on the streaming platform.
Wen Ling's important exhibitions include: 2017, National Art Museum of China "Oriental Stories-Asian Youth Art Invitational Exhibition"; 2016, Shanghai Contemporary Art Museum "Snacks"; 2015, Nanjing University of the Arts Art Museum "Sketch·Recreated Art" "; 2014, Taipei Lin She Great Future Gallery "N12 Sixth Exhibition", Beijing Commune "N12 Fifth Exhibition"; 2013, Beijing Ullens Art Center "ON | OFF: Concepts and Practices of Young Chinese Artists "; 2012 Beijing Ullens Center for Contemporary Art "curated by Wang Xingwei: Specific".
